Finally, this week I had an excuse to take photos of random letters, if anyone asked. Before this I would’ve been a bit stuck what to say …”just really liked the look of that A” might have sounded a bit weird but now I am a Yr 1 Graphic Design student and it is all OK.
As it was no-one asked me what I was doing. Taking photos of various typefaces I saw around Liverpool and the Wirral was part of the research for the first brief “Text in the City” to produce an alphabet based around letters from the city. Glorious. It is amazing the variety of text and type that passes by our eyes everyday. We are “visual magpies” (credit Andy Jones) storing photos and inspiration with our eyes.
